Help! My blog has disappeared!

  • Unknown's avatar

I just realized that my blog seems to have disappeared from the Internet. Browsers can’t find it, nor can google, and I can’t access it from my dashboard, although WordPress still lists all my pages and posts when I log in–I just can’t view my blog. Nor can anyone else, as I see from my blogs stats that I’ve had no views in April and hardly any in March. My last post was in February so it just so happens that it’s been a month since I looked at my blog.

    Please help!

Thanks, and anxiously awaiting your response,
    Alex

It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=rootsgrowthetree.com

Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

If you’re having issues setting the above name servers then contact your domain registrar to help you with this.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the response. I double checked, and those settings are current and accurate; nothing has changed. It is set exactly as you specified, and has been for more than a year. The blog was operational using our custom domain for almost a year until 6 weeks ago.

I also double checked that the rootsgrowthetree.com domain registration fees were paid up and current.

What I need to know is why it would suddenly stop working; why my blog suddenly disappeared after several problem-free years.

Not only is rootsgrowthetree.com not working, but rootsgrowthetree.wordpress.com also isn’t working and the blog is literally not searchable, although my dashboard still works in wordpress and my subscription is still active.

Please help! I’m mystified and really miss my blog.

After doing additional research, it looks like there’s an issue with your domain registrar. You should check with them to make sure your account is current and there are no other issues. Right now the domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers, but that could have been done by the registrar rather than yourself.

For the time being, I have removed the domain mapping upgrade and reset your site to point to http://rootsgrowthetree.wordpress.com/ . If you get things sorted out with your registrar, let me know and I can restore the mapping for you. It did expire in June, so you’ll need to renew it soon if you decide to keep it.

Thank you for the pinch-hit fix, jackiedana. I really appreciate it. I spent a lot of time this morning trying to make sure that my domain was current and there were no other issues, and I’m pretty sure I did. It has also always been set to automatically renew. I’ll try again, but please let me know if you can think of anything else that would cause this problem.

When we researched your domain, it was not showing WordPress.com name servers on a dig command. While I don’t mean to get too technical, we were able to determine from that that whatever is going on, it’s not on our end but is an issue with the domain registrar.
