Help – my pictures have disappeared

Hi, I’m not a very technical person, but I just went through my media library and deleted photos. I thought I’d better check that the photo’s on the blog page didn’t disappear…most haven’t but some images are missing. The captions are there and file number, but no photo!! What have I done?! Thanks

Ah yes, I’m starting to see that now they are all slowly falling off one by one!!! What a pain for me! I guess you need to leave your published pictures in the media library then! Thanks

Sorry, but I just had a look a my blog page the photos that weren’t there are now there, and the newer one have disappeared! Do you need to keep the photos in the media gallery for them to appear on your page or are they also stored with the blog text….if that makes sense….told u I’m not technical!

No, the images have to remain in the media library. The posts just link to those images in the library.

So my next question is do I just go back and reload the photos and slot them in where I need to? Or do I have to wait for them all to disappear? What about the captions/photo numbers that still appear, will they go too.

WordPress archives your photos using the date you uploaded them as part of the URL so:
usindbx.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/your_photo_name_here.jpg
So when you upload the photos to replace the ones you deleted the newer versions will have a different date stamp. This means you’ll have to manually go back to each post and replace the old URL’s with the new ones.

ALL of my uploaded pictures on aionwings.wordpress.com don’t show anymore and I did NOT delete ANY of them. Is there a problem with the library atm?

@magicfairy, I went back through all 4 pages of your posts and I see all your photos – none are missing.
Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again. You might also try rebooting your modem if you are on cable or DSL and then trying again.
ISP’s use invisible proxy servers to lessen their bandwidth usage, and it could also be a proxy server between you and wordpress that has a problem.

Hm I did the clearing, logged also, (not doing the reboot, my router doesnt like that lol) but nothing changed. I tried another browser also. Bit strange is that I run other wordpress blogs (kiwiado.wordpress.com f.e.) which dont have that problem. Well perhaps a temporarily problem, I keep an eye on it^^
