Help! My site has vanished
-
Hi!
I recently went to log in to my site and came up with this error message — There has been a critical error on this website.’ This occurred both when trying to reach the main site and when trying to reach the login page, which I eventually did by logging into my wordpress account and then looking at my sites. When I go into my admin dashboard, there’s an exclamation mark in a red circle next to the site itself at the top which, when clicked, says ‘this site cannot be accessed.’ There’s an option then to click ‘I’d like to fix this now’, which takes me through to a page that says Jetpack is unable to connect to my site.
I don’t think this is a Jetpack issue, however, because on my dashboard, basically everything has been wiped. According to my various dashboard tabs, I have no plugins installed, no settings, pages, comments, posts at all. I have no idea why this might be the case. If anyone has any idea, I would be very grateful.
Thanks!

Hi there @azpascoe
Unfortunately, your site azpascoe.com is not hosted on WordPress.com and is using the self-hosted installation of WordPress.org hosted by Bluehost, which is quite different therefore the solutions here may not apply to you. You can learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org from the link.
However, I’ll try to point you in the right direction. This thread on the WordPress.org forums talks about debugging in WordPress when you find a critical error: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/critical-error-on-your-website/
Often times it could be a recently installed plugin. I recommend contacting BlueHost’s customer support as they have been able to help with these issues before, like on this thread. For future help with your WordPress.org installation you can ask for help at their forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
Hope this helps 👍
