Help! My website and domain name don't match!
-
I got 2 emails. 1 from WordPress and 1 from PayPal. The one from WordPress said congratulations you are now the owner of heatherkipp.com and the one from PayPal was a receipt that said it was for a domain named heatherkippdotcom.wordpress.com I don’t know what to do because all that kept coming up was heatherkippdotcom.wordpress.com but what I want is heatherkipp.com Help!?

You have an account at wordpress.com (here on this site) that is identified by that long domain that includes wordpress.com. However, within that account, you have purchased that short domain name you wanted, and that’s where the internet will “find” the site you build here at wordpress.com. Sign in to heatherkipp.com/wp-admin (which is housed in your account here at wordpress.com) and all should be well. :)

Ok I signed in and it doesn’t work and when I went to heatherkipp.com it says DNS server unfound Site does not exist. And when I go to my wordpress site and I go to domains it still shows that I am able to purchase heatherkipp.com
-
Does that make sense? PayPal got the bill related to your account “name” on the record at wordpress.com, which is that long name that includes wordpress.com in it. That basically has nothing to do with what your site will pull up as, after you build it!
-
It won’t let me build it because when I select domains it tells me that I have $18 in WordPress credits and that purchases are disabled and that I need to contact support. The domain heatherkipp.com is still available.

Ok, when you are signed in here at wordpress and go to your account, what domain does it say you have purchased?
-
It doesn’t say any. It allows me to purchase heatherkipp.com or others but when I click to purchase it, it tells me I have $18 wordpress credits and then it says purchases are disabled. Not sure what’s going on.

Something went awry in the purchase, I guess, which stinks because your Paypal account has been charged! The thing is, contacting support is easier said than done. They purposely make it hard, I think! You’d better post a new item in the forum with a title like “My account has a note to contact support…but how do I contact account support?”
Good luck! You’ll get it straightened out.
