Help! My website has been 'parked'
-
Hi there,
I have had my wordpress.com site for several years but took a several month hiatus from writing on it. Recently I logged in to begin publishing again and when I type in the address (onethousandsingledays.com) it takes me to a big grey page with the words “Are you the owner of this domain and want to know why this page looks different than your other parked domains?
PLEASE CLICK HERE…” Then it takes me to SEDO.COM and I have no idea what to do!
I am in New Zealand and the customer service people aren’t ‘awake’ until the middle of the night my time. Is there any way to get my site back?
Is this possibly because I forgot to renew my ‘subscription’ for my website name?
Im so confused, please help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t know what ‘parked’ means though. Is there something I did in order for SEDO (whoever they are) to remove my website?
I don’t have a SEDO account (which your link suggests I log into to resolve the problem) and I’ve never heard of SEDO before. -

Please read my second comment. You purchased a domain through wordpress.com and it has expired.
onethousandsingledays.com is hosted by Prolexic Technologies
Name Servers:
ns1.sedoparking.com
ns2.sedoparking.comNot to worry as Staff will assist as soon as they work their way forward to this thread.

Ok, I’m starting to understand what happened now. So I didn’t renew my subscription for my domain name in time ( I thought I had an auto-renew set up) and so now my domain is available for others to buy it if they wish, which they would purchase it through SEDO who have parked it. Right, got it.
My question now becomes, can I have my domain name back for the same price as the renewal as I thought I had set up auto renew and didn’t check back on my website for some time as my father passed away suddenly and life got turned upside down. I can’t afford to buy the domain at the price they suggested it would be (About $80 if not more) but I can pay the $19 to renew my subscription now. I hope there is someone that can help me with this, I finally felt ready to write again today and was devastated when I couldn’t access my site! There are years worth of writing on there! -
Ok great, sorry our comments are overlapping, I didn’t see you reply before I published my responses. Thanks again for your help I will wait for staff assist to help :-)
-
You will have to wait for a Staff response but do know that WordPress.COM cannot waive the redemption fees set by Wild West domains.
-
Update: I have paid a $13 fee to renew my subscription and got this message: “Congratulations! Your blog is now set up to use the domain onethousandsingledays.com. All that’s left is to change the domain’s settings so it points to your blog.” So I am at the stage where I have to “change my domain’s name servers to point to WordPress.com’s name servers. On my registrar’s website, remove any existing name servers and add the following instead:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.comSo any advice on who my registrar is and how to change my domain’s name servers to point to WordPress.com’s name servers would be awesome :-)
-
WAIT.
You don’t own the domain. You’ll have to buy it before you can map it. And you have to pay the full price.
-
Really? Because in my ‘upgrades’ section it says: onethousandsingledays.com
Domain mapping Expires on July 12, 2015 and underneath: Domain not pointing to WordPress.com -
Domain mapping is entirely separate from domain purchase. Did you purchase the domain yet?
-
-
I am happy to just use: onethousandsingledays.wordpress.com if that means I don’t have to repurchase onethousandsingledays.com
-
Then get a refund on the domain mapping, since you won’t be needing it.
If you do want to purchase the URL, you have to go to that site where it’s parked and follow their instructions to buy it.
-
Ok thank you, I will pursue a refund if I can.
As far as onethousandsingledays.wordpress.com goes, when I enter that address into the address bar, it still takes me to the greyed out web page saying the whole “Are you the owner of this domain and want to know why this page looks different than your other parked domains?”
Why would that be? -
-
It might mean that the domain is not owned by them but in turnaround, in which case you can buy it from your WordPress.COM dashboard, but it will cost you an extra $80. If you buy it from those other guys it will still cost you whatever they want for it plus that $80.

Hi there,
You had the domain onethousandsingledays.com registered here at WordPress.com, but it expired in July this year. After it expired, it was sold to a new owner. You can find the publicly available information about that new owner here:
http://who.is/whois/onethousandsingledays.com
I removed the domain mapping you just renewed for that domain, since you won’t be able to use it unless you own the domain. You can now keep using your free WordPress.com address: http://onethousandsingledays.wordpress.com/
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!
