help needde for begginer?

  Hello
  i new to wordpress before i ask my question i just want say i saw and read about wordpress training for beginner but i still know any thing actually i become more confuse .my simple question (i want put one main page in front and then put the other pages and about me on the right side no more from that . after i saw training i still confuse about what i can use is widget or custom menu? please i need instruction step by step without skipping any step , few instruction words that mean i will ask more 3 or 4 questions .
