Hi. It all depends on what the deal with that person is. You should ask that person directly. Personally, I wouldn’t let anyone own my domain name. Ever.

I can see that this topic’s title was changed from “Help needed ASAP” to “Should I let someone host my blog?” It shows that in the future, you should always use a “brief and descriptive” title.

he says that i will still be able to buy my domain name and he is just going to host it which i would have to pay for. he owns a website and said he has free domain names o give out.

Is he running a legal, registered business? That’s how I would approach a total stranger. What if his server goes down, there’s virus, etc.?

Unless that person was a sibling…where I would have absolute freedom to be loyal or get truly pissed off at sibling and say so to sib so that something gets fixed (for free).

I recently had two people contact me when a person hosting their website for them for free just pulled the plug and disappeared. This can happen for a variety of reasons and if you do not have complete are recent backups of your site, you lose absolutely everything (with the exception of what you can find and copy/paste from web archives or cached pages on search engines).

I agree with the others and looking at the site will not change my opinion as I have seen too many such arrangements go wrong.

If you are approached by a stranger making you an offer you don’t understand, the only correct answer is NO.
