Help needed – Beginner

  Hi guys,

  So I made a wordpress.com blog and I bought a domain name on GODADDY, I also purchased hosting there too as I had no idea what I was doing at the time. I followed a tutorial and linked my domain name to my blog which was fine. Ive now generated enough content that I wished to make the site look more proffessional so I bought a premium theme not knowing that you had to have a wordpress.org site to use it. Im so confused. I want to migrate from .com to .org and retain my godaddy domain but I have no idea how to do this. Please help!

  You should look at the different kinds of WordPress in order to make an informed choice about which one you want to use:

  WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

  I cannot. Your link http://mostfaded.xxx leads essentially no where: except godaddy indicating that it is parked. What exactly did you purchase?

  hi there 1tess, i just removed the link to my blog. I purchased the domain and hosting at godaddy. Now im unistalling the wordpress app on godaddy and reinstalling hoping to start again and import the old blog content and hopefully add my theme aswell since will be hosted there now. Am i on the right track?

  Yes, but note that not all Wp.com themes are available for WP.org sites.

  Sounds like you are just trying to host your site yourself, using wp.org software.

  I am confused about what you did!

  some themes for wp.org are free, some you must pay for.
  The ‘premium themes’ on wp.com are for use only here on WordPress.com.
  Your questions are confusing.

  http://mostfaded.xxx/ now goes to a self-hosted site. You can use the free software from wp.ORG to make your site function.

  Okay please forgive me for being confusing as I jst started doing htis like a month ago and had no idea what I was doing. I bought the domain mapping upgrade. Yea I am ttrying to self host now beacuse I bought a premium template from a 3rd market maker. I managed to get the software working on my godaddy hosting and installed the theme but after two minutes if I ever tried to do something like edit or change anything it jsut goes to page saying ‘you ever feel like your int he wrong place?’ like 404’ing. Is there something ive done wrong?
