Help Needed: CSS Coding to Change Copyright Bar Color
-
Hello! I am new to website building – I have been using Elementor to design my WP website and have been able to navigate it fairly well, but I have zero knowledge about coding.
I have been trying to change the color of the copyright bar at the bottom of the footer. I attempted already to do this by using the ‘Appearance’ > ‘Customize’ > ‘Color – Copyright’ feature and then choosing my color. But, although I can see and save (publish) the changes in WP, the changes do not transfer over to my actual site.
After a few Google searches, I found a forum post with the CSS code to make the background color change for the footer. This approach worked and the change transferred over to the actual site. This is what I used:
#footer .copyright {
color: #aaa;
}My problem is that I also want to change the copyright bar background color. Is anyone able to help me with the CSS code to also change the background color of the copyright bar?
Thank you in advance!

Hi there,
We do not offer Elementor as an option on WordPress.com, so he site you are referring to appears to be a self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) site hosted on an outside web hosting company Web Hosting, and not a site hosted on our WordPress.com service.
To clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites, and an outside web hosting company also happens to offer WordPress sites, but they use a different version of the platform than what we use here. Because of this we are not able to help with your issue as it lies outside of our system. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for more info.
You can find support for your self-hosted WordPress site here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
You may also wish to contact the support team for your theme provider for more assistance, since they are usually best able to help with CSS questions.
Hope that points you in the right direction!

Hello,
Thank you for the quick response! I should clarify – my questions are about WordPress.com, not Elementor. I mentioned Elementor to give context of my limited web design background, but the program I need help with is WordPress.com. All of the questions I had were about WordPress’ header designer (not Elementor’s).
My original post was not very clear in that regard (probably should’ve just left that top paragraph out for clarity…). Sorry for the confusion.
Again, much appreciation for any help/ideas!
Thanks,

There are two different types of “WordPress” sites: sites hosted with WordPress.com and sites using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
For sites hosted at WordPress.com, you’re not able to hide or modify the footer credit unless you have a Business plan or above. You can read more about this here:
https://wordpress.com/support/footer-credits/
If your site is not hosted here at WordPress.com, we’re unable to assist with your customization questions. If you still have questions, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
I don’t show any WordPress.com sites under the account you’re logged into, so if your site is hosted here at WordPress.com, please provide the site URL and we’ll be better able to advise. Thanks!
