help needed for domain name, please

Hello!!! I’m new to WordPress but I already am in love with it! really a great community thank you :-)
I want to create a new website. Unluckily, there is a little problem: the address name that I want to use is already used, and the alternative names are very bad. So I visited that address, just for looking how it was its website, and I discovered that there is no website inside, it only contains the standard WordPress page that appears when creating a new website, like “Welcome to WordPress.com. This is your first post. Edit or delete it and start blogging” and also that this address was created in the far 2005, more than 10 years ago and never used.
So my question is: please can you kindly cancel that domain? or contact that person for gently asking him if he can cancel its address? I tried to do it by myself but I can’t. There is no time limit for address expiration in that cases? The domain address is https://flyhigh.wordpress.com
If you can help me you will give me a great gift. Please, I really need that address for important humanitarian purposes. Sorry for my English :-) Thank you -

While the address might not be active, it still belongs to someone, so we cannot reassign it to someone else under any circumstances, as explained at the link @mommyhive mentioned above. You can try contacting that person via their site and ask if they’ll transfer the address to you, but we cannot help with this.
Moreover the domain was recently updated by the registrant and expires only by 2020. Seems like the registrant is still keen on utilizing the domain.
Free WordPress.com URLs don’t expire and cannot be renewed, so I’m not sure what you are speaking of here. Please don’t add irrelevant information like that to a thread.

I want my domain removed. I no longer use the blog and having it still on the web is conflicting with a new website I created a few weeks ago with a new domain.
Below is what I received today which unfortunately gave me no way of contacting ICANN or WordPress. Note that my domain is a WordPress product.
I need a Happiness Engineer to get rid of this domain as soon as possible please…..

I just looked into the Whois information for that domain and provided the info.
What domain? The only URL the OP provided is flyhigh.wordpress.com. Subdomains don’t have Whois records, so if you did a Whois lookup on that you saw the information for the WordPress.com domain itself.
