HELP needed for importing blog from New Blogger to WordPress

I think we’ll have to disagree: Weird Al wouldn’t have a career if you were correct. This example appears to be nothing else but a parody of the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, itself a cultural touchstone.
Charles Schultz was a savvy businessman as well as a cartoonist, and I’m sure his literary heirs are as vigilant. Any lawsuit about this yet? -
@laura 613
Have you tried drmike’s work around and exported your posts over from Blogger to wordpress.com yet?

“Charles Schultz was a savvy businessman as well as a cartoonist, and I’m sure his literary heirs are as vigilant. Any lawsuit about this yet?”
Charles Schulz sued dozens of people for copyright infringment during his lifetime, but the cases were handled quietly.
I worked for the law firm that represented him. They won them all.

TT, thanks for asking. As I said earlier, I didn’t want to use that workaround because it doesn’t import comments. I’m just going to sit tight and wait.
-
“Sitting tight” sounds like an uncomfortable place to be. Some folks simply copied and pasted. I did the same myself before Blogger Beta was introduced.
-
laura, it sounds like we’re in agreement about Schultz. That neither he nor his heirs went after this cartoonist seems to settle that issue. A versatile thread indeed, that can resolve so many questions.
-
“Some folks simply copied and pasted.”
I can’t cut and paste 3.5 years of posts and comments. Honestly, if it came to that, I’d just stay with Blogger, no matter how reluctantly.
But waiting is not such a big deal. I’m hoping it will be worth it! :)

There are some intructions for importing Blogger to WordPress here:
[Link removed – drmike]
These should work with new Blogger (if you can get it to publish). Is there any way to revert to this method? -
This appears to be for wordpress.org, not wordpress.com.
For the WP.com import, you can’t use your Google/New Blogger login. Without that, importing won’t work.

Just for reference, I’ve gone ahead and removed the link to the wp.org wiki as those instructions are for the other version of WordPress as well as the older version of Blogger.
Elizabeth links to the correct article about the importer. It should work fine and can be found at Dashboard -> Manage -> Import -> Blogger. :)

This guy has write a plugin to import from new blogger to wordpress….maybe you can have a look on it
[Deleted link so not to confuse folks – drmike]

We can’t do plugins here as we’re running the hosted, multiuser version of workpress, not the regular single blog version that you can get from wordpress.org. They’re a security risk. We also have a built in blogger importer. Please see a couple posts up for the link to the announcement.

Yes, the new importer is up and running. Do a search of the forums and/or the FAQ to find the instructions. It’s been around for a couple of weeks I think.

I am desperate to move over to WordPress too. My Blog was labeled a “Spam Blog” by the Blogger, “This blog has been locked by Blogger’s spam-prevention robots. You will not be able to publish your posts”. They don’t use a human to check the site before locking you out. I’m so frustrated and angry at their arrogances, so I’m moving to WordPress.com. I’ve signed up an account, I sent to “Manage”-> “Import”, and clicked Authorize. At blogger’s side, I clicked “Grant Access”, and then when it went back to wordpress, it said: “Trouble signing in. We were not able to gain access to your account. Try starting over.”
Does anybody what went wrong? I tried several times and none worked. Please, I’m desperate!!!
Thanks.

There’s an issue on Blogger’s side. We’re getting the same issue with regular wordpress and wordpress multiuser. When you, um, view blogger’s output, it’s not listing the blogs that you control. I sent in a feedback a couple of hours ago to staff here. Not sure what can be done.

i’m having the same problem. it says it can import my blog from blogger but when i try it says it has trouble and to try again. i tried several times. sigh.
