Help needed – Skinning and coding

greetings, I am new to WP and I am moving my whole site to WP from MKPortal 1.1.1, WP is just so much better, its amazing.
anyways, before I do that I need to create a custom skin for my WP that is similar to my current one. I am a complete noob at this, altough I do know CSS and html, WP is too new for me and I cannot do it alone, so please, if anyone thinks they can help, please post here. Thank you

ok, well, Im trying to develop a skin just like the one in http://latinforo.net
and also, Is there a way to have wp running, but without the index, like, that I can keep the MKPortal untill the wp site is 100% final?

For a very sophisticated site here is a possible development strategy. Buy the CSS upgrade. Then install WP org locally. Use Sandbox. Hack up your CSS. Then copy and paste the CSS to WP com.

ok, I might buy, but only if necessary, since I will specify the thinks I would like to keep form the template:
complete header, center column with the content and some ads, and a right column with a poll, rss suscription, ipb stats, adds, navigation links and extra links
does this really need the css upgrade? -
If you want to change a theme here at wp.com to look like something even slightly different then, yes the CSS upgrade is essential. Header you can do free, dependent on the theme. If it’s just content you want to keep then that shouldn’t be a problem
None of this is CSS though:
Ads – Advertising? Not a cat in hell’s chance. You might want to peek at the Terms of Service and the FAQ (Above) for more information. Polls? Not easy. Javascript is disabled for blogs at wp.com and as most polls use JS it will be difficult. Search for polls on the forum for more info.
IPB Stats? How are they generated? Invision Power Board I assume?
Adds?
Navigation links = blogroll. Extra links you can use a text widget in the sidebar.

In which case, I’m afraid you’re at the wrong forum. You need to be at http://www.wordpress.org (noting the requirement to download wp 2.1.2 due to a recent security glitch.
And, no, I don’t do support via MSN. I don’t even use it.
