help needed to close down wordpress.org and move stuff to wordpress.com
-
hi
2 years ago i was persuaded to take a website for my blogs. this was a very bad move for me as i do not understand technicalities. i did not even understand that a blog was a website!i had previously started multiple blogs instead of using tags in one blog. it is all rather a mess. i used to use blogger until their relationship with apple broke down and i could no longer access it from my ipad or iphone. then i moved to wordpress.com and then it was moved to .org
i now want to close down my website hosted by go daddy (wordpress.org) and bring written content over to wordpress.com. i hope i can get the help i need here, happy to upgrade, i just need to understand what i am doing.
my first step today has been to stop automatic renewal with go daddy, i now have a year to take what i need from my website (wont be a lot) and slot it into my blog but i need it dated as it was written and i need to be selective as all my old blogs were thrown in to the new wordpress.org and became muddled. instead, i need my wordpress.com to point to the old blogs so i can access everything in one place but in chronological order. hope that makes sense?.
http://sixtyyearsyoung.org i think is my web site
https://60yearsyoung.wordpress.com i think is my blogis guidance and help available please?
after that i need advice as regards what to do about Go Daddythank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
i now want to close down my website hosted by go daddy (wordpress.org) and bring written content over to wordpress.com.
As long as your GoDaddy site is still online, it’s easy to migrate content between different WordPress sites.
On the GoDaddy site go to WP-Admin ->Tools ->Export, and create an export file of that site.
Then on the WordPress.com site go to My Site ->Tools ->Import, and select the WordPress import option, upload the export file, and wait for the process to complete.

i need it dated as it was written
A WordPress export preserves all the meta-data of a post, so the publication dates on all posts will remain exactly what they are at the time you do the export.
i need to be selective as all my old blogs were thrown in to the new wordpress.org and became muddled.
This is not possible. The WordPress exporter lets you export posts from only a certain category or date range, but you cannot pick and choose which posts you want to export. That is simply not something the exporter was designed to do.
So if you want to do this, first you’ll have to edit all the posts you want to export and assign the same category to them. Then export only posts from that category.
instead, i need my wordpress.com to point to the old blogs so i can access everything in one place but in chronological order. hope that makes sense?.
I don’t know what you mean by pointing a WordPress.com site to your old blogs. There is no connection between your WordPress.com site, http://60yearsyoung.wordpress.com/, and any other site on the web, and no way to create such a connection. You can’t pull content directly from another website into a WordPress.com site. You can only export and import.
after that i need advice as regards what to do about Go Daddy
Once you’ve moved all your content you want to keep to your WordPress.com site, there’s no reason to keep your hosting account at GoDaddy active, so it would be okay to cancel that completely and delete the current site at that point. Just make very sure you only do this once you’ve migrated all your content.
If you want to continue using the sixtyyearsyoung.org domain for the WordPress.com site, you can transfer that to us using any of our paid plans. Please do not cancel the domain at GoDaddy under any circumstances if you plan to continue using it. Transferring the domain should also only happen after you’ve finished migrating any content you wish to keep.
