    Need some help!

Hi People, this is my first go at wordpress and could do with some help: karensoutherpr.wordpress.com I basically want to use this a website rather than a blog.

I have read tutorials on removing the ‘comments’ heading at the end of sections and also the ‘leave feedback’ option. I know I need to upgrade my package to edit the css or php to do so.

So firstly, what is the best package to do this? Secondly, this would be my first go at editing css etc, how would I access it?

    Thanks in advance. x

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thank you for posting. I have been searching the forums for an explanation of how to remove comments or disable comments. I want a static front page with no comments.

We can restructure wordpress.com blogs to become websites. Staff have provided this support documentation entry for those who want to structure their blog like a website which is what you want to do. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

What’s critical is to understand when creating a website structure is the following:
    1. The differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

    2. There is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages.

    3. We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. Although there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance we have done so by creating a custom menu. In that custom menu you will be displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation to achieve what you want.

Note: You can also include Pages, subpages and custom links in your custom menu if you wish

I know I need to upgrade my package to edit the css or php to do so.

There is no upgrade that allows access to the php and the ability to edit either themes or templates on this multiuser blogging platform at wordpress.com. All blogs we4aring the same theme are using the same template and we cannot access those files. Only Staff can as every edit made affects all blogs wearing the same theme.

It’s important that the two of you read this entry so you are crystal clear on the differences between free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM and free sotfware installs form wordpress.ORG for self hosting. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

There is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs and we cannot upload theme or plugins. At wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. It does not allow you to remove footer links to the theme designer or to wordpress.com. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.

Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

All wordpress blogs have the default setting for open comments. The default pages to set enable or disable comments throughout our blogs is here > Settings > Discussion
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/
We can override those default setting and enable or disable the ability to comment on any individual post or page as well.
