Help on domain renewal when original admin user will not assist

Three months ago, I was given admin rights to cityparksask.com by Daryl Hofmann (daryljeromehofmann). Unfortunately, Daryl has not responded to my requests to renew the domain personally. He advised that I could delete him and then do the renewal myself. Alas, I cannot delete him or renew the site. Please advise on how to proceed as I am willing to pay for auto-renewal setup.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If Daryl is the owner of the blog and the Upgrades, you can’t remove him from the blog – only he or the staff can remove him. Since he also owns the upgrades only he can renew them.
he can transfer the blog and upgrades to you. The domain name needs staff help so I have already flagged this for the staff to help.
He can log into this thread as the account that owns the blog and upgrades and in small clear words ask the staff to transfer upgrades (best to call them out by name) from his account to your account – again spelling out the account names
There is no way for anyone other than an Upgrade owner to renew an upgrade. WordPress.COM will not take away an upgrade and give it to another Admin.
Sorry no short cut to glory here – maybe if the staff reached out directly to Daryl he would respond to them – but that would be a staff discretion

Since Daryl is the owner of both the site and the domain name, he’s the only one who can transfer the site and/or the domain upgrade to you. He’s also the only user who can renew that domain, since he owns it. (Thanks, auxclass, for explaining those details.)
I went ahead and reached out to Daryl directly to ask about transferring ownership of the site and/or the domain name to you. He’ll need to confirm that before we can take any action.

@rachelmcr – you be welcome – figured that explaining things up front would help the OP get started with whatever they could do – then I added the reach out from you or the staff as I have seen that done a few times before, easier to reply to an email than logging into the forum

PS – I want credit for keeping my snark under control and not suggesting a court order from a U.S. court (the Upgrades are from Canada I think) :)

Hi rebperchik,
I want to let you know that Daryl confirmed that he would like to transfer ownership of the site and domain to you, so I just took care of that for you. You can now renew the domain cityparksask.com by going to Store > My Upgrades in the dashboard and clicking the “Renew Now” button.
You will also need to update the domain registration with your contact information. You can do that by logging in to the domain manager and updating the contact information as described on this page: Domain Management

You all be welcome – glad things worked out fine, I have seen several of these threads where the upgrades are owned by an account that is not helping anymore or can’t or won’t reply – always tough to watch
