Help – Pages Not Showing up issue

  • Unknown's avatar

Is there a current issue with pages not showing up?

Something is wrong with my site http://okids.wordpress.com.

I know how to create posts, pages and the difference between them etc..

This is a unique problem I am having that just started last night.

Every New PAGE I create is in the control panel and the page name is on the site but when you click the page name it is sending you to the home page.

When I hit edit it shows the proper page, but view shows the home page…

Anyone else experiencing this right now?

I just clicked all your pages and they went to the proper place.

    FF 2 on Vista.

Yes, I´ve got exactly the same problem. Pages are created, but I cannot publish them and receive a 404 Error, although the pages appear in the menu bar.

Give us a link to your blog please.

You can find my blog here: http://www.99grad.wordpress.com

    Thanx for your help!

First, your blog address is 99grad.wordpress.com … the www part isn’t necessary and breaks the URL for a good deal of the search engines and browsers.

Second, I’m seeing 404 errors for all of your pages except the about page. Can you see the pages in your dashboard? I’m guessing this is a backend issue and you’ll need to contact staff via your dashboard.

Thanks giving me the www-advice, I am a newbie to blogging.

Yes, I can see the pages in my dashboard, but only as non-published preview.

I tried to contact the staff, but the support button didn´t work. Well, I´ll try it again…

    Is this a known problem?

  • Unknown's avatar

If they’re non-published, I guess that would explain the 404 errors. What happens when you publish them?

Support button is being wonky right now. Email always works.

PS: I’m off to bed. I’ll leave this in the capable hands of the other volunteers.

Thanks a lot and goodnight. I´ll try it via Email.

I had tried many times to publish the pages, then save as draft and republish.

I just republished the following page; http://okids.wordpress.com/buzz/city-services/

and it is showing the home page – the only way I can see it is if I edit it.

Oh my god that is a lot of pages! It doesn’t look like a blog at all; it looks like an intricately hierarchical website. Have you thought about doing these as blog posts instead?

Also: you’ll want to review the Terms of Service relating to commercial activity on the blog. Blogs which engage in sales or trading are liable to be suspended without warning. I’d delete that entire section.

I need help with why the pages are not showing.

Wordpess has many uses besides being a blog. I guess that’s why you can create pages and/or posts.

Looks like I will have to move to wordpress.org for more added features and benefits.

You will certainly not be able to stay here if you’re running classified ads.

I cannot figure out why my pages won’t show up on my blog either. my blog: thepatricks.wordpress.com -I have created new pages and published them and when I go to the site they don’t show up. If I go to manage > pages and hit ‘view’ next to one of them, it will take me to the page, but it just doesn’t show up on my blog. I am using the Saphire template

Sub-pages – an unlimited number of sub-pages assigned in hierarchical order to “parent” pages.

    -> Dashboard -> Write -> Page
    (1) Look to the far right beyond the editor box at the row of blue buttons.
    (2) Locate the one that says “Parent+” and click it.
    (3) Assign the new sub-page you are creating to a Parent page.
    (4) Complete the sub-page contents and publish it.

Sapphire does not display a sidebar on all pages only on the front page. In addition, you have not placed the Pages widget in your sidebar so the links to pages are not being displayed.

    The Pages Widget

If you’re using a theme that lacks page tabs then the Pages Widget becomes the method of click through navigation for your readers.

It displays links to your blog’s static pages in your sidebar.

Pages Widget set-up walk through -> Dashboard -> Presentation -> Widgets

    (1) Scroll down to the Available widgets box and locate the Pages widget.
    (2) Drag it out and drop it into the Sidebar box.
    (3) Click on the blue and white icon.
    (4) When the widget opens you will see optional fields that you can complete.
    (5) Configuring the widget
    * Title:

    * Sort by: Page title Page order Page ID
    * Exclude:
    Page IDs, separated by commas.

    (6) Once your selections have been made click the X on the top right corner.

    (7) Click “Save Changes” and view your blog.

Can you give us the URL of one of those pages? I see two Christmas list pages.

Also: have you double-checked that you hit PUBLISH rather than Save?

Same issue for me: http://secretwave101.wordpress.com. I have parent pages on the top of my home page. When you click on them (“Shorts” for example, is a page with links to 3 short stories.) You can click on Shorts, but the stories aren’t there. It was working until yesterday. No links to any sub-pages on any of my pages.

I’m sorry to say that I was wrong. Sapphire does display a sidebar on all pages. I just tried it in my test blog and had no problem at all creating a Page and a Sub-Page and I palced the Pages widget in the sidebar where both displayed properly. Please edit your pages and sub-pages and be sure that you check “Status” and ensure that they are Published as raincoaster has advised. Then put the Pages widget in your sidebar.

Re: the disappearance of your sub-pages other than to go to Manage -> Pages and see if you can find them there. If you find them then edit and be sure that you check “Status” and ensure that they are Published as raincoaster has advised.

Checked the status (published), checked the parent (correct). They all showed up normally for over a week. Now since last night, they’re gone. I can see them when I click to edit them, but they aren’t linked to the parent page.
