Help please!

    Hi all,

    I hope you are well.

    My case is a bit complex, but as there is no specific email address to contact WordPress, I realised this was the only way to raise my case.

    I built a website about natural skincare through a platform that offers you training in affiliate marketing. You basically build the website on that platform, choosing your own domain, and all it’s done through WordPress as they have it included in their platform (but the domain doesn’t say wordpress.com at all). The hosting is done by them too.

    However, I have decided to stop my membership with them because it’s very expensive and the training was not that good. However, I want to keep my website, as I have put a lot of effort into it. They told me I needed to get in touch with another company for the hosting. They suggested me to download a plugin to do a backup of my website, which I did yesterday and it has saved it as a zip file.

    Before cancelling my membership, which I want to do it asap, I need to fully transfer my website, but I don’t know how to do it (sorry, I’m embarrassingly green in this field).

    Can I do it on WordPress itself, or should I go to another company? Does WordPress allow you to do a transfer and hosting of a website that was created somewhere else (although mine was created using WordPress)? Or WordPress is only for creating websites from scratch? If it’s possible to transfer it, can I keep exactly the same theme and layout, or it only keeps the content (articles)? And would the domain change to wordpress.com, or could I keep my original domain?

    As a last thing, if the transfer is done, can I apply for the £4 per month hosting plan?

    If you want to migrate the site on your own, log in as the site / upgrade owner, and get in touch with support here to let us know what trouble you’re running into. Our staff will do what we can to help on our end.

    I do want to clarify too, there’s a big difference between our hosting plan and the free WordPress.org software that you can run at another service. We are not the same organization:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    So your new host’s pricing is totally up to that host.

    I didn’t say I want to cancel your service. I’ve never set up anything through WordPress.com itself directly.

    I want to cancel my premium membership with Wealthy Affiliate, the garbage affiliate marketing platform who charged me a ridiculous amount of money per month for a training, hosting and website building, this last one through WordPress, because they have some kind of agreement I guess, but I created the website on Wealthy Affiliate, not on WordPress.com directly.

    I just want to keep my website as it is: skinawesomeness.com, same domain mame, without the wordpress.com at the end, and with the same theme and layout, although I guess this last one is difficult. And with the £4 plan for hosting.

    I know you are not affiliated with WA. I already contacted them. I was just adding a bit of the background.

    You said I can follow this link, https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ to map existing domain, but does it mean I need to change the domain to end in WordPress.com?

    No, that is how you use a domain link skinawesomeness.com on top of a WordPress.com blog like andreams87.wordpress.com so the blog appears as skinawesomeness.com instead.

    Ah, I understand it now, something that I was actually thinking right after reading your response. Thanks so much for sending the link. Hopefully the mapping won’t take too long and the process will be easy.
