Help Please

I’ve been searching the forums here and fund a bunch of fixes for this issue of the Sidebar being displaced to the bottom of the page. I’ve edited all of my posts in html format and didn’t find any of the <div> issues present. I’ve cleared the cashe as well. I get the error in both IE and FF. Any help or suggestions?

hi pacres,
we use the same theme; at which point/post did the sidebar drop? Your photos are kind of large, I suspect it’s at least one of the photos. The size of a photo can cause this.Often I’ll use a smaller pic, and sometimes I’ll give the option to click on the photo to make it larger if the reader would like to see a larger view, that way the sidebar doesn’t drop.

Here is an example – it’s not the best example for your purposes, it’s an ‘extreme’ example of what can be done.

by showing a smaller pic, then clicking on it to make it larger. for your purposes, i’d show it larger than i did here, but then give the option for an even larger view. i used flickr in this example.

I’m not sure that the images are the issue. I don’t post anything larger than 500px wide. On the second page, there are images this wide and it does display normally, and the individual posts display correctly as well.

I also noticed a small bit of text in the top that wasn’t there before. If you highlight the top of the side bar it looks like there my be something there that shouldn’t be there.
I did remove all of the sidebar widgets, but that din’t seem to help either.

500px is huge. please try to make them smaller and see if that doesn’t fix the problem. So, so often, that is it.

480 is the maximum image width for chaoticsoul: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/

I switched the images down to 450px, but that hasn’t seemed to make any difference. Before if the images wee too wide, they would just be cut off on the side.

Set your blog to display only one post per page (options > reading) and then go through the posts one at a time to see which one is causing the problem. It could be an open div tag, or something like that. If you have copied and pasted from another application such as MS Word, that can cause problems as can copying and pasting from the web. When you do that you bring in all sorts of code that can mess things up.

Thanks thesacredpath – That helped to pin it down. I made an error in an anchor text that caused the problem.
