Help please

    Hello, I’m trying to change my current blog name to a new name. However, I have another ‘accidental’ new blog with that name that I don’t need. I need to rename, but if I delete it I will be unable to use it again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Deleting a blog address URL is intended to be a permanent act. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

    re: changing a site title or tagline
    Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the underlying .wordpress.com URL and purchased the upgrade the Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General … “save changes”.

    That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed. Note that the site title (blog name) and blog address URL do not have to be the same but it’s better for SEO (search engine optimization) if they are the same.

    You can transfer content between blogs.

    Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

    You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and navigate to Tools.

    The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.
