Help please, cant get width right on
-
Hi all, first time here.
Ive built a website that Im 99% happy with, but on wide screens there is a huge blank white space on the right hand side of the screen. My own laptop shows it perfectly, but on anything wider it is there, any advice on how I can change this? The themes default feature width is 474 pixes, would changing that help? Thanks in advance!

Twenty Fourteen has an overall maximum width of 1260px and is set to always stay to the left, so on monitors wider than that, you do see the blank space. In general, the number of people that set their browsers to greater than about 1400px is actually pretty small. In addition, to keep text as readable as possible, you would typically not want to have the content area much wider than 600-750px.
As a first step, you might want to try the following which will keep the content centered within the browser window at widths greater than 1260px.
.site { margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; }See what you think with that and then we can go from there.

You can also try the following, which widens the content from 474px to 650px.
.site-content .entry-header, .site-content .entry-content { max-width: 650px; } -
This is so helpful, thanks for taking the time to respond, Ill give the changes a go shortly.
Much thanks :D
