HELP PLEASE! Domain issues

I’m very new to all of this and have made an error in setting up my site. I first created a site on my old WordPress site from 2015 (i never went anywhere with this but still used my old account to try and create a new webpage in June) anyway i changed the webpage address to the new address i wanted for my blog. I then purchased the domain name kulturethirst.com on go daddy. When i tried to link my domain with wordpress it told me i had to wait 60 days and i really did not want to wait. So impatient and un-educated me, went to another platform (squarespace) to try and set up my blog there. i then got the same message about the 60 days. I then watched a youtube video on how to start a blog on word-press, and began the process again. I created a Gator host account and linked this with my domain, which all seemed ok, then it told me to install the wordpress connection with my domain which i did, now when i try and open my webpage, it takes me to a squarespace page! with the following message:

Your custom domain mapping may take as little as 15-30 minutes to resolve, but in some cases mapping a new custom domain can take up to 24 hours. If you need additional information about domain mapping, please visit our help center.

I am really hoping this means later tomorrow, my wordpress site will be back however any help would be greatly appreciated as i’m not sure of the next step!!!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The domain, kulturethirst.com, is registered with GoDaddy, and currently also pointed to their servers, though it looks like you have Squarespace’s IP addresses added to that domain, which is why it is loading a Squarespace site.

If you want to use that domain with a site on Hostgator’s servers, you need to contact Hostgator support and ask them for their name servers. Then you need to log into your account with GoDaddy and change your domain’s name servers from GoDaddy’s to HostGator’s.

You can find GoDaddy’s instructions for doing that here:

    https://www.godaddy.com/help/set-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-godaddy-12317

None of that has anything at all to do with WordPress.com, and we cannot help you get the domain pointed and connected to your Hostgator site.

When i tried to link my domain with wordpress it told me i had to wait 60 days and i really did not want to wait. So impatient and un-educated me, went to another platform (squarespace) to try and set up my blog there. i then got the same message about the 60 days.

New domains cannot be transferred to another provider for a period of 60 days after you buy it. This is a rule that applies to all new domains, no matter where you buy them, and is not something we control.

If you wanted to use that domain with a WordPress.com site you should have connected it here using our domain mapping upgrade, included in all our paid plan, instead. That is essentially what you’re now trying to with Hostgator – you’re not transferring the domain to them, as that is impossible at this point. You’re just connecting it to them. You could have done the same on WordPress.com:
