Help please! My pictures are disappearing!

Help! All my lovely pictures are disappearing!
The ‘Thought for Food’ issues for January, March, April, May, July, August and September have lost all their pictures after I had a try at changing the order. I did not change much, and undid any changes I made as far as I know.
Only February and June are still left, for now at least.
What happened? How can I get them back, other than by what I did with June, namely build everyone up anew from scratch (and find the pictures again …)?

Not sure what you mean by “changing the order” of images. Removing images from the media library, or editing their permalinks without replacing the images embedded in your posts or pages, would result in 404 errors where the images previously displayed.

I did not change the order of the images, but the order of the postings. I did not touch the content of the postings, or their pictures, at all.
I can manage to put back the pictures by copying the postings newly, from scratch, and adding in the pictures. But that is a lot of work and I wonder why they disappeared in the first place? They are all replaced by the words ‘screen shot’ plus date. Because that is how I put them in, taking a screen shot and dragging. -

You didn’t delete them from the media library?

You’re welcome, Annemieke. Did the same thing more than once in the first year or so after I began using WordPress. : )
