Help please! only WP user can be invited to view private blog?

Hi, i only wants my friends to read my blog but only wordpress user can be invite. if my friends isn’t a wordpress user can them be invited?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can invite anyone by email, see Users > Invites in your dashboard, but they will have to sign up for a wordpress username to be able to log in to your blog.

I find this to be a major problem with all the Blogg sites that I have looked at. I think that it is a problem and if I could find a blogg that did not require this I would switch in a minute. I would even pay a fee for the option to have a private blogg that I could invite family/friends to and they would not have to “JOIN” to look at my blogg. Most people who would come to my site have a dozen so called e-mail addresses that they never look at and only use to access something like a blogg. Such a waste!

What are you talking about? If it’s not Private, then anyone can read it. Of course they’re going to have to register for a private blog, no matter where it’s hosted, otherwise how will the blog know who to exclude and who to allow?
