Help!!!! Problem in menu navigation

    Hello!!! I am trying to create my website using the free theme “Miyazaki”. In the website I show, about, contact, projects and maybe posts.
    1) for projects I created a category named “projects” and I added subcategories (each project). Then I try to create another category and add subcategories (category posts< Subcategories posts), but when I add them to the menu , all subcategories are be shown as categories.
    For he second category (posts) , I created a new category with slug empty and no parent and then respectively I choosed for parent for each subcategory, the category “posts”.
    Is it correct? Why I can’t create a second category/subcategories?

    2) how can I have a scroll bar menu?

    Please I am not a programmer. So I would appreciate solutions that code is not needed and preferably are free.

    If there is no other option, please explain using code.

    The site mentioned does not use our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com. Instead, it’s set up on the open source WordPress.org software which is something different.
