Help re templates
-
For the last hour I have been trying to create a simple blog article with pics and texts as if it were a simple Word document. No such luck. None of the templates, as fancy as they are, work in that way. So I’ve already wasted about two hours because it is no longer possible to directly paste text with many inserted pics straight from Word into a WordPress document as one used to be able to do. Now I’ve wasted another hour and still no closer to being able to create the SIMPLE document I want using the CLASSIC editor as I wouldn’t go near the block editor with a bargepole. I would be grateful for any advice re a simple template. Thank you.

I have tried using Twenty Sixteen but even though it’s supposed to be an update of a theme I’ve been using extensively for years, I can’t get it to work properly. Instructions are to remove the sidebar just delete the widgets which I’ve so far been unable to do.
So all I have atm is a single narrow column down the middle of the page which with one thin column of text and images one underneath the other instead of side-by-side, quite frankly looks not only ridiculous but horrible and unreadable.
I am so disappointed with WordPress which used to be user-friendly and now it’s not. The prices have gone up and up while the customer service and ease of use have gone down and down and it’s so upsetting to have to waste hours doing something that before one could do literally in minutes. If anyone can help with this, I’d be grateful.

It also used to be WYSIWYG but no longer so it’s just about impossible to get it the way you want it. Now it’s endless clicking in and out of the document to see what it looks like.

Hi there,
Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks.
The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. Prerequisites The Move to WordPress.com plugin installed on your self-hosted WordPress site. All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site. ✅ There is no need to create a site on WordPress.com before you get starUnfortunately though, as it stands now, we are not able to help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help.
Thanks!
