HELP! Refund – can I just get my choice of domain back?
-
Hi! I realized that I meant to register using a wordpress.org, but instead started a wordpress.com account. (I’m new to this obviously!) I registered my domain and immediately cancelled and requested refund now I can’t get the domain that I wanted! PLEASE HELP! What should I do to get that domain back?

To revert your domain cancellation you will require WordPressdotcom staff.
I have tagged this thread with “modlook” so that WordPressdotcom staff are notified and are able to assist you further.
Cheers!

Hi there,
Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. Only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.
In this case, because you cancelled on the same day you bought it, your domain should be released again by the weekend, at which point you will be able to register it at another provider. I can still restore it to your account as well, but you will have to wait 60 days before you can transfer the domain somewhere else if we do that.
Please let me know how you would like to proceed.
