Help: Removing RSS Feed button

  So two strange things:

  One, I want to remove the RSS Feed button but I cannot seem to find where to do it – I tried everywhere I could find in the Settings as well as the Theme Customiser (which brings me to strange thing number two).

  Two, WordPress doesn’t tell me what theme I’m using for this blog (while it does tell me for my other blog). And I couldn’t find it on the list of free themes. Not sure if that has anything to do with my trouble editing but when I used the Customiser it only let me fiddle with the Feedjit (an external widget).

  Anyone have any ideas? For the meantime my RSS Feed just pulls up an HTML page with coding and content text, which I don’t want.

  Let me start by saying the RSS links were in our right sidebar. They led to HTML jargon.
  I clicked on the Customize icon with the tools in an “x” down in the right corner. I went to Widgets and selected Sidebar Widget Area. Once in there I noticed the RSS disappeared in the preview. So I selected the appropriate widgets I wanted to appear in that sidebar and hit save. That placed the widgets I selected and RSS links did not appear.

  Interesting, for me the RSS feature is ingrained in the actual theme layout, it seems. The only widget I have is the Feedjit live traffic feed, which is on the bottom of the page – unless the RSS button which is up top.

  @israelsgoodname Your site is using DepoMasthead, which is a retired theme and you are correct that the RSS FEED link will appear in the navigation menu, unless you use a Custom Menu to replace the default menu. https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

  However, I would like to suggest that you consider switching to a newer theme. As time goes on, retired themes like Depo Masthead are no longer updated and do not support WordPressdotcom’s new features. Not being a responsive width theme can also have an impact on your site ranking in search engine returns. Let us know if you would like suggestions for a newer theme. https://wordpress.com/themes/

  I see, so I guess I’ll just leave it as is. I don’t have anything to replace the RSS button with, if it’ll even work at all in the menu creator.
