Help required to migrate existing website
-
Currently we have following setup. We need to migrate existing setup for which I want to know the complete cost, steps and time involved in it –
Website – https://sobbanglay.com (Flex Mag Theme)
subdomain – https://lekhalikhi.sobbanglay.com (Verbosa Theme)Domain name purchased from GoDaddy. Servers are with Digital Ocean, Have Cloudflare integrated.
We are okay with theme change but all contents, categories, tags, interlinks should remain intact.
We have several adnetwork integration – we want to keep that. Also if we can get AdWords hat will be fine.
We do not have jetpack plugin and we only want buy the wordpress premium plan.
Q1. Do we have to buy 2 plan for these 2 websites or can we have subdomains included in the plan?
Q2. What are the steps involved? Can we start the activity eeping everything up for now and do a cut-over to keep the down time minimal?
Q3. How much time will it take to migrate all?
Q4. We have 2 years renewal done with goDaddy, as I understand that will come along with added 1 year free domain renewal. Is that correct?
Q5. Once migratin is done what all control will we have and what all (upgrade, security etc) will be taken care by WordPress?
Q6. Do we have to pay to buy plugins anymore?

Hello there,
This site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider. This is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
We would not be able to assist with this request.
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software you need to seek help at these forums:

Actually we want to move from self hosted wordpress.org to wordpress.com pro plan. So we thought this will be the forum where we can get the support on importing all those.

@aleone89 as you suggested I checked in wordpress.org fourm ad I found the below post where they are suggesting to contact wordpress.com support –

Hi there,
Yes, we can definitely assist you with any questions you have about the migration from your self-hosted site to WordPress.com. For step-by-step instructions, please visit our support page here:

Q1. Do we have to buy 2 plan for these 2 websites or can we have subdomains included in the plan?
Yes, it is one plan per each site, so if you want a plan for both sites, you need to purchase two plans.
Q2. What are the steps involved? Can we start the activity eeping everything up for now and do a cut-over to keep the down time minimal?
You can find the step by step instructions on our support page here:
https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-an-entire-wordpress-site/
Q3. How much time will it take to migrate all?
It really depends on what/how much content you need to migrate. For the migration of site content, but with the Pro Plan you can choose the
Import Everythingoption, and it’ll give you an approximate time for the entire transfer to complete.

For most sites, it doesn’t take more than a couple of hours.
Q4. We have 2 years renewal done with goDaddy, as I understand that will come along with added 1 year free domain renewal. Is that correct?
Yes, as part of the transfer process, your domain will be renewed for an additional year. If you just renewed the domain with your current provider, you will not lose that renewal that you made with Go Daddy. Our annual WordPress.com plans come with a free domain name credit for one year, which can be used to transfer your domain.

Q5. Once migration is done what all control will we have and what all (upgrade, security etc) will be taken care by WordPress?
You still have quite a bit of control over how you run your site. However, on WordPress.com, you don’t have to worry about hosting, security, etc as it is all included. We can handle all of that for you. For the differences between what you can expect on WordPress.com vs self-hosted, please visit:
Q6. Do we have to pay to buy plugins anymore?
In general, most plugins are free, but the same rule applies here as it does with self-hosted WordPress.org sites – premium plugins that cost money will still need to be purchased on WordPress.com. Is there a particular plugin you are referring to?
Hope all this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
