Help restoring blog from sql.gz file

I used to have a blog through wordpress (hosted by Dreamhost). A few years ago the whole thing was deleted and I have it backed up in a sql.gz file. I would like to restore the blog, but no longer have paid hosting. I’d like to just restore it to my free wordpress blog. I have searched all over for an answer but all I can find is that I need to have paid hosting, use php admin and restore it that way. Is there anything I can do? I don’t want to pay for hosting – I just want to get my old blog back up on my free wordpress blog.

    Thanks for any help!

Uploading a sql.gz file is not possible. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and that’s not an accepted file type. Currently, you are permitted to upload only the following file types to your WordPress.com blog (no upgrade required):

    Accepted File Types

Is there any way to convert it to an accepted file? Or am I just stuck having to sign up for a hosted blog again?

I’m sorry but I have no help I can offer you.

You might be able to make a WordPress.ORG install on your PC and install it there and export – then there is the problem of your Pc needing to be able to send the media to your site here – maybe you can find a consultant that would install your backup on one of their sites long enough to export the contents to your new site here – not sure how to find a reasonably priced place to do that however – WordPress.ORG has Code Poets on it somewhere that are people that do WordPress for a living – I would think that you would need a small company or a person that does small jobs
