Hi there – you’re very close to getting this done, but I need to confirm something before I offer the solution.
You have a site here: skyknightcapital.wordpress.com
Is your goal to build a new site for skyknight.com at that URL? Or, are you bailing on that idea and just needing skyknightcapital.com to 301 redirect to skyknight.com?
If you have plans for skyknightcapital.wordpress.com, share what you can with us please so we can factor into the next steps we provide to help you get this done. Thanks!

Hi deancroyal ,
We need a 301 redirect set up for our new domain, skyknight.com, to point to our primary website, skyknightcapital.com, which is hosted outside of WordPress. Both domains’ DNS is managed by WordPress, so we require the redirect to be configured through the platform.
Your assistance in setting up this redirect would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @morphicsupport, that should just start working by default when you add a new, non-primary domain with our name servers and leave the A records as-is. It will automatically 301 redirect to the primary domain.
It looks like you’ve pointed the domain’s A records directly to another IP. We would have no control over 301s because it isn’t our server.
One of these options should work, though each will likely take time to take effect:
- Get rid of the custom A record so the domain points back to us again. We may need to add our default records back for you. After a bit, the 301 redirect should just start working for you, but note it will redirect from our server to the other. I’m not positive whether/how that impacts performance.
OR
- Contact your site’s hosting company. You’ll need to get the new domain added to the server’s configuration, then you can configure redirects on their side.
I hope this helps! If you want to use our DNS, including our A records and 301 redirects, please delete the custom A record, then update us here so we can check on it. Thanks!
