Help setting up image tint functionality on media upload

  Hi, I’m totally new to WordPress and I’ve been asked to set up functionality for applying a range of tints to images which are uploaded to the media library. I would probably just want to add a selection of 4 or 5 preset tints as radio buttons in the media upload form – next to the size and alignment options. I’m a PHP developer (with just over a year’s experience but am reasonably competent) and am hoping to be able to get this done fairly quickly (in about a day ideally). I’m not looking for help with the coding but if anyone can help point me in the right direction to the files and functions i will need to be working with to make this work, that would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking through the source code at the moment and am working through the image and media related files in the wp-admin and wp-includes folders, so hopefully i’ll find what i need in here. If anyone can offer any advice or pointers with how best to go about this, that would be great.
