Help! Site Down!

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi There – my billing information wasn’t updated and because of that, my site was not renewed. Can you please help me with this? I didn’t get ANY notifications letting me know that my website needed to be renewed, or that the payment did not go through.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • It looks like your domain stylegraceandlace.com expired on 10-mar-2017.

Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order. You can learn more about expired domains here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

The good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one which we can waive.

If you wish to continue with the renewal process and agree to pay the renewal fees + $80, please let me know and I will send you a payment request.

If not, you can wait out the rest of the expiration process and see if the domain is released. However, do be advised that this is risky, as someone else can purchase the domain out from under you and it may not become available in the future.

  • You may not have been receiving notifications because I notice that you have two different email addresses. A @yahoo one on your WordPress.com site and a @gmail one in the domain registration information. Have you been checking them both?

Hi! Thank you for your response! I def need to renew that domain immediately! Can you help me?

Once I pay the fee will the site be up and running right away?!

  • Unknown's avatar

Also, yes I check both emails. I don’t remember receiving any emails regarding a renewal at all. Perhaps I missed one? But I really would have been aware of something like that…typically.

Also, when I go to “manage purchases” …it says “Renews on…never expires” … so there isn’t an option for me to renew.

    I’m confused…

  • Let’s see if we can get this sorted out for you.

I have contacted the registrar to initiate the recovery process and will let you know as soon as they reply. This usually takes 24-48 hours.

Is there any way to get it sorted out quicker than that?

I can’t just pay the fee and recover the website?
Sorry – It’s just my business so I really need it to be done ASAP. I wish they would have told me that the card was declined. My credit card info wasn’t updated which is why it didn’t auto renew I’m guessing? But I was never informed that it didn’t go through which in my opinion, is not good business.

Thank you for your response – I appreciate the help. Just hoping to get it figured out asap. And please let me know if I can just pay the fee to at least get it up and running!!

  • There is nothing that can be done until the registrar responds I’m afraid. They have control of the domain while it is in the “redemption” period. Once they reactivate it, we will be in shape. But until then, we’ve just got to sit on our hands and wait.

Frustrating, I am sure. But I’m afraid that is the situation.

Ok, thank you for explaining. It’s a pain but I understand. Will you reach out to me as soon as you hear?

Once they reactivate and I pay, will the site go right back up and be viewable to others?! (Hoping that it does!)

    Thank you!

  • Will you reach out to me as soon as you hear?

    Yes, absolutely.

Once they reactivate and I pay, will the site go right back up and be viewable to others?!

    Yes, it will.

  • Okay, good news!

I have heard back from the registrar and they were able to return the domain to us.

I am sending you an email to the address associated with your WordPress.com account. Please let me know if you do not receive it.
