Help! Site on mobile won't open posts

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I am having issues with my site whenever I am viewing it from a mobile device. The home page loads up properly, but the posts do not load at all unless I am signed into my account. Thats a major problem especially since most views come in through mobile these days. I initially thought it was because I had just switched themes and it needed time to populate, but its been over a week now and still having the same problem.

    Thank you,

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme Go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

Thank you for your reply but that is not the issue. I already have the mobile theme disabled and love the way the site looks on mobile. The issue is that when on mobile devices the front page loads but when I click on a post, I get a completely blank screen. I have tried this from many different phones and tablets and nothing is loading. Visitors to my site through mobile devices will not get to see anything, and that is a major concern.

    Thank you for your time,

The problem is coming from the home page. If the site is accessed through a direct link to a post, the posts load but as soon as you go to the home page, everything no longer loads. Please advise

  • I can see the problem on my iPhone 5S. It works when logged in to WordPress.com, but not when logged out.

Do you still have a the same problem if you enable the default mobile theme at Appearance -> Mobile in your blog’s Dashboard?

    Thank you Timethief.

Macmanx, thank you for your reply. I enabled the default mobile theme, and this did allow me to view the posts through mobile, but it did not fix the issue for tablets. Also, I do not like the default mobile theme at all. It looks very amateur and none of my settings are applied there. I am paying yearly for the premium customization capabilities and spent a lot of time customizing Canard on all platforms to get it to look the way I want and would like that to be what my visitors see when they come to the site.

Thank you for your time and hopefully we can get this issue resolved ASAP.

Another thing, the default mobile theme does not pull up my main navigation menu in it’s menu which is another issue.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for confirming, I’m asking one of my colleagues in theme support to take a look.

  • We found that the problem only happens when custom fonts are in use with Canard. Fun! :)

We’re looking into this now, but if you’d rather not use the default Mobile theme, I recommend disabling your custom fonts for now.

Thank you so much macmanx, I hope this can be fixed easily. Appreciate all the help!

  • You’re welcome!

    We’re still looking into this.

I think it’s fixed, it seems to be working for me now! I have all my customized settings in place and am able to open up posts from the homepage from my iPad as well as my phone. Thank you :)

This is a bit unrelated, but is there a way for users to make suggestions for minor changes in a theme to the theme developers??

  • It is indeed fixed, sorry I’m a bit late on the announcement. :)

Regarding theme requests, I recommend posting at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes#postform and adding your theme’s name as a tag.
