Help staring use of recipe shortcode

  I need some help utilizing recipe shortcode. Is it as simple as pasting [recipe title="test recipe" servings="5#" time="15 mins" difficulty="easy"]
  [/recipe]

  into my “Text” or visual area of my post? That does not seem to work.

  No, it will not work, as your blog is not a WordPress.com blog but some other kind of software, perhaps WordPress.org.
