If you need help then it’s always a good idea to indicate which instructions you followed, which player you tried to install and where exactly things went wrong for you. The more info you provide the easier it is for people to help you.
Here is info on one audio player. http://wordpress.com/blog/2006/12/11/sonific-songspot/

Here’s information on the other one.

    Using Odeo

I finally managed to get my audio to Odeo (had to host it myself) and into a podcast and then onto my blog. Thanks for all the forum and help pages! However, when I try to play the audio from my blog it takes me off of my blog and to the Odeo page. I don’t find this happening on any of the examples that were included in the help pages. Can anyone assist me?

Just keep in mind any of this might slow down access to your blog from dial-up users. Anything added on like music or video will be unbearable for them.

Might help us help you if you told us what you were doing and the code you were adding in.

Hello, thanks for replying and I am sorry that I wasn’t detailed enough in my original post. I used the code that was provided in the help page by Matt http://wordpress.com/blog/2006/09/27/odeo-support/ and just put my odeo number into the code. Here is my code with an extra space in the front.

    [ odeo=http://odeo.com/audio/3963733/view]

It was very hard to even get that far because Odeo has changed their offerings and the help pages/forum pages here don’t reflect that yet. New users can’t upload to their site. Since I have my own website, I loaded my clip via FTP to my site and then loaded it to Odeo. (after I had to download a program to change it from a .wav to a .mp3)

Plus, I have never tried to podcast before so I was muddling through the entire process.

I was so excited when I finally got the player to show up on my blog, but when you click play it takes you to the Odeo site rather than playing the clip on the blog.

I had to learn/teach myself a lot to get this far and I would really love to have it work correctly.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The support folks at Odeo say that it is working fine when they check it….. Hopefully, they will figue out why it isn’t working for me or my friend who checked it for me.

I heard back from Odeo. They suggested that I delete it and try posting it again. That worked. Also, she said that if you click on the player, you go to the Odeo site, but clicking on the play button should let the audio play in the blog.

Thank you for the update. I’m assuming this is resolved … maybe

To finalize this thread there is one other thing that I learned. When Odeo gives you the link to your audio (after you upload it AND put it in a podcast) it NEVER works for me if I simply copy/paste that link and put the appropriate brackets and other info around what they give.

I always have to acutally type the entire line into the editor. If I do that, it works fine. If I don’t, it doesn’t.

It is a lot of steps to get it going, but it is nice to have audio!
