Help transferring from one host and domain provider to wordpress

Hi I’m trying to help a friend transfer her website over from 1&1 (she’s served her notice and it comes to an end in December) over to WordPress. I believe both can be changed over to WP but is it a) easy to do? b) do I need to wait until December to do this and c) has anyone got any step by step guides on how to do this? I’m helping as I have slightly more knowledge that she does but not masses more :) thank you so much!

You do not need to wait until December, although you may want to check the refund policy on 1&1.
