Help Upgrading to WordPress 3.8

  I noticed that I am unable to make several simple changes to my blog within WordPress:

  1. I can’t add or change the order of the text widgets on my side bar
  2. I can no longer add a signature to my blog posts
  3. I’m having issues increasing the width of my blog

  Since I noticed i haven’t upgraded to the latest WordPress version, I’m wondering if this is the issue?? But I don’t know how to “back up my files” before upgrading. Please help! This has been super frustrating!
