HELP! Upload a premium theme…
-
OK, so I set up a WordPress blog. Then I added my domain name to it (I canceled my web hosting account from my old static website, forwarded the domain to WP, changed the nameservers to WP, and use Google apps. to host my email). Done, Ok up an running fine!
Now I purchased a premium theme from ithemes and now need to upload it. CONFUSION AND DARKNESS HAS SET IN!
According to their uploading instructions, I need to go into my hosting account and create a SQL database. The problem is I canceled my hosting account, because I was lead to believe by WP that you don’t need hosting, just change the nameservers and forward the domain to WP. That is what I did, and it works fine, but as stated now I want a premium theme. So now my questions are:
How do I (is it even possible) upload premium theme on a WP hosted blog (not using a hosting company)?
What is the difference of having WP host vs. other hosting providers?
I basically just want to upload my theme, that’s it, can someone help me without drowning me in tech speak and difficulties?
I would appreciate it! Thank you!

You cannot upload an external theme to a blog here at WordPress.com. It is not possible.

Here at WordPress.COM we’re NOT allowed to download themes and add them
to are blogs because the blog platform is MU based. What is the difference of having WP host vs. other hosting providers?
Link » WordPress.com or WordPress.org ? The difference.

Ok, so according the the WP.COM Vs. WP.ORG link above is my understanding correct:
1. On .COM,not on .ORG I can continue to use my own domain (hosted for free, by pointing the DNS) and to can have my email hosted for free by Google Apps. This is free, except for the $10.00 credits paid for the domain.
2. But if I want my own premium theme, I must secure my own third party hosting account elsewhere, then upload WP.ORG to hosting account, create an SQL database and then follow the “five minute installation instructions” from the .ORG website?
3. So, I must switch to .ORG (which offers uploads of themes and plugins), and to do so I must use a third party web host?
Am I understanding this correctly, Am I missing anything else?

IF you know CSS or have hired someone competent with CSS you can host at WP.COM and have someone design you something nice using Sandbox, which is a CSS-free theme that you write yourself. There is no support for CSS via staff and very, very little in the forums, so don’t take that option if you don’t have someone who knows what they’re doing with it.
We have five pages of free themes here; something like a hundred? Usually with a custom header people find them more than adequate. God knows, I’m tired of looking at Kubrick but I’ve never yet downgraded or ignored a blog just because they were using it.

Well the light has shone forth from the darkness! I see the light! I stand corrected! Thank you, teck07, because you have shed light on the situation! I have been provided with a solution to my problem, and now I may plunge further onward, and arrive at my desired destination! You have been elevated to the status of insightful, truthful, knowledgeable, and trusted adviser in my book. I am truly grateful!
Raincoaster, you comment is indeed correct, but I must let you know it is very misleading, and so it was not helpful to me. It implied that it was impossible to use third party themes, but in reality it is possible, but you must have your own host. Perhaps, in the future if you would like to help people here you could provide a more detailed explanation, instead of the mislead doom and gloom provide. I am afraid that you have lost trustworthiness in my book. But rest assured redemption is always possible, if one really tries! Good luck, and I hope you count this as a lesson learned!

No, I don’t. Remember, you didn’t even read the link teck posted; I told you to read it and voila! there was your answer.
I mean, I’m assuming you read it?

You’re welcome fmblogger04, & Thank you for the compliment… :)
There is themes that have been upload by staff for are use and there is the
option of CSS like Rain, mentioned but it’s a paid upgrade and you would
have to know CSS to make it worth your while because there is NO official
support for CSS…There is about 100 themes to choose from here on wp.com
also there has been a new theme edition added recently
