Help uploading theme

  Hi there,

  I am trying to upload a theme i purchased already for a blog. I am not a business and dont want to pay the 24 a month for things I wont use. But it says this is the only way to upload my theme. This never used to be the way, why has it changed and how does one upload a theme?

  Unfortunately upgrading to the Business plan is the only way to get a theme purchased elsewhere onto a WordPress.com site. There are hundreds of free and Premium themes already available here https://wordpress.com/themes . Are you sure the theme you like, or one very similar isn’t available there? But if your own theme is a dealbreaker then you might have to consider going self-hosted and using it with the WordPress.org software. There will be costs in going down that route but it shouldn’t be as expensive as the WordPress.com Business plan. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Has this always been the case? I have used wordpress before and never had this issue! Crazy! Thanks so much for the help! Ill look into that!

  Until very recently you couldn’t even upload external themes to WordPress.com even with the Business plan. Perhaps you had a WordPress.org site previously.
