Help – website builder won't respond

I am very very new to the website building world & need some help! The store I work at paid someone to build a website for us on word press & he hosted it in his server. He has gone dark & his server shut down, leaving us with no website for months now while I try to contact him. Our old website was great & i’m having a hard time finding someone who can build us something up to the standard that our old one was. I remember getting emails from word press to my work email about updates periodically done to the website, so I’m assuming he must’ve used my email address somewhere down the line for something. Is there any hope for me getting that old website back?? I own the domain so I can prove that. I’m very frustrated and hoping y’all can direct me in the right way to go. Thank you!

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to get the old site without the help of your previous designer/host.
There is the possibility of having someone re-create it for you based on the previous design. Have you tried running your domain through an archive service like WayBackMachine to see if there’s a saved copy of it to base the new design from?
