Help! Where’s me blog?

  bohsnews.wordpress.com has disappeared, and is returning only a timeout message.
  Previously, the front page type had been rendering in odd sizes, although archive pages were fine.
  Can someone please tell me this is temporary?
  Assuming it is, for future reference, does WordPress.com do backups, or do we need to do that ourselves?

  I see your blog perfectly fine; try again, sometimes these things are extremely temporary. There was a series of problems a few days ago, but I thought that they had cleared (I had a thread here called “fine time for a 500 error” on the issue). Maybe they’re doing repair work behind the scenes.

  Yesterday Dr Mike said that WordPress does backups every hour. T’was the first I’d heard of that, but a big relief to know.

  If you are getting the problem consistently and can still access your Dashboard, send Support a Feedback from there. Don’t wait; just check that the error is still there for a half-hour and then send the Feedback. They don’t work on weekends.

  Also, could you possibly be cutting and pasting either from another website or from a Word document? Either of those can leave you with weird tag strangeness and do things like change the font size on you.

  45 mins + and still no show. Are you sure you’re not looking at a cache?
  I can get wordpress.com, but no individual blogs. Can’t send to Feedback, as I haven’t got dashboard access.

  I never went to your blog before, so I can’t be looking at a cache. This happened to me: I could see I was getting all kinds of comments, but couldn’t get to my own blog.

  It sounds like a worse case of what I had on Sunday. You can contact support at (email visible only to moderators and staff).

  This is resolved. And my sanity restored.
  Mark told me to check with my ISP, and he was right. Even though only WP sub-domains were affected, resetting my connection got me back in (which to me at least is counter-intuitive).
  I won’t be so quick to cry wolf next time.
  BTW, the formatting issue *did* have to do with a copied font tag — didn’t realise that that would follow through to previous postings.

  The hourly backups have been known for quite sometime. It’s over in the FAQ blog.
