Help! Why does only one old post still gets tons of hits?

I have one post dated Aug 24, 2009 that gets dozens of hits every day despite its being old and my not using it as a URL in comments, etc.

My new posts hardly get read at all so that shows you how few readers I have, which is fine with me. But I can’t figure out why this one post is hit on so regularly. Some days it goes off the charts!
Any ideas anyone?

I have a similar situation with some old posts on my blogs. When I search the internet I find the links have been posted into discussion threads on forums and online groups.

@mosaicmoods your main stats page shows quite a few hits from people searching for “black holes” and related terms.
So: your post probably features relatively highly in one search engine or another for searches for that term. (I’d say probably not on the first page of a Google search, or you’d be seeing many more hits).
