Help with blog URL's and domain name
-
I’m hoping someone can help me to get my newly purchased domain name pointing to my new blog. I’ve tried reading the help and the forums but only got confused, not being totally literate with the whole concept of URL’s and domain names and mapping etc
I have an existing wordpress blog, http://tomgracephoto.wordpress.com/ and I have now just started a new blog that I am developing to replace this old one. The new one is http://gondwanaphoto.wordpress.com/. I have also just purchased the domain name http://www.gondwanaphoto.com so that I don’t have to have the .wordpress in the title (and so it is easier to share with friends and family etc).
The problem is I can’t get the address http://www.gondwanaphoto.com to point to http://gondwanaphoto.wordpress.com/, it keeps going to http://tomgracephoto.wordpress.com/ instead and I have no idea about how to change it.
I’d love to sort it out quickly or at least know if it’s possible to change so that I can cancel the domain registration and get a refund before the 48 hours is up!
Any help will be appreciated
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi .. I have a similar problem, but my problem is that the new .com site does not have a security certificate? and it is not found in the google search and when you type it in it has a big red warning for users not to open it!

@tjgrace – take a long walk to your favorite beverage place – serious – you seem to have everything set correctly but you are inside the 72 hour window for access to your site to calm down – access to your blog will be erratic until changes migrate across the internet – try clearing your browser cache and forcing a page reload – you will be the last one to see the changes
However your name is mapped to tomgracephoto.wordpress.com
DON’T CANCEL ANYTHING – THAT WILL REALLY MESS THIS UP – if this is the wrong blog you can transfer the mapping to the correct blog – or the staff can help – I will flag this for the staff to help

Hold Your Horses!
It can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at gondwanaphoto.com, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again.
Nameservers Validated!Congratulations! The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for gondwanaphoto.com.

okay it sounds like everything’s going to work out thanks auxclass. I’ll remember to take a deep breath… 72 hours is a long walk / lot of beverages by the way!
Okay, I just followed the links to ‘my upgrades’ and transferred the domain upgrade that I purchased earlier to my new blog and voila, it works! and there I was thinking that the world was going to cave in and as I was dangling by my fingertips over the precipice a wordpress worker drone would come up and tell me “no refunds”
New website welcome to the world http://gondwanaphoto.com/ :)

I love it when a plan comes together
On domain mapping changes, you will be the last one to see the changes – and yes the 72 hours can be a long long time
You be welcome
