Help with Bradwick theme and iPhone
-
I tried to use the Bradwick theme but it doesn’t seem to work on my iphone (it does seem to work on blackberry and samsung galaxy). On the iphone, the image comes up and the menu is able to be accessed, but there is no text displayed, no matter which page I choose. Could you help diagnose and fix the problem with Bradwick and the iphone?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

(I have reverted to the Wu Wei theme temporarily because I need the site to be accessible at all times.) Thanks!

There is no Bradwick theme listed here http://wordpress.com/themes/The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

Here’s the link for the iOs forum for the WordPress app so you can post there and make our WordPress developers aware of your iPhone issue. http://ios.forums.wordpress.org/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org, click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to to those forums.

Thank you, I have posted there. Hopefully someone here who has the Bushwick theme could help, too.

Hi there – it’s going to be tricky to troubleshoot the Bushwick issue if your site isn’t running that theme – would you be willing to switch it back temporarily so I can have a look and do some testing?
Could you also please answer these questions:
Do you see the same issue on the Bushwick demo site?
http://bushwickdemo.wordpress.com/What OS are you running on your iPhone? (i.e. 7.1.1)
What type of iPhone? (i.e. 4s)
In what browser do you see the issue? (i.e. Safari, Chrome)
p.s. just to clarify, the iOS forum timethief mentioned above is only meant for reporting issues specific to the WordPress mobile app (posting, using the Reader), so you posted in the right place here.

Thanks for your reply, kathrynwp! The demo site seems to work on my phone. I can see the page text and the menu links are working.
I am running 7.1.2, iPhone 5, Safari.
I’ve switched the site to Bushwick temporarily for testing. :)
Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks for providing those extra details.
On the iphone, the image comes up and the menu is able to be accessed, but there is no text displayed, no matter which page I choose.
I just tested http://laulaw.wordpress.com/ in Safari on my iPhone 5s running iOS 7.1.2, and I can see text working normally.
Here is a screenshot showing some of the text that I see on the home page: https://cloudup.com/cgf4c4Dc99n
Here is a screenshot showing some text visible on the contact page: https://cloudup.com/ck2u6hk4hy5
Based on my testing, I think http://laulaw.wordpress.com/ is working properly with the Bushwick theme on iOS in general.
One additional troubleshooting step you could try on your phone would be to clear cookies and data and then reload http://laulaw.wordpress.com/ to see if text starts working for you after that. Here is a guide explaining how to clear data if you’re willing to give that a shot:

Oh that’s so interesting… when I go to laulaw.wordpress.com it shows up perfectly on my phone. But I have my personal domain laulaw.ca pointing to the wordpress page, and when I go directly to laulaw.ca, that’s when the site doesn’t load properly.
Is there something I can do so that it works using the laulaw.ca address?
-
That could certainly explain it! In order for a custom domain to work properly together with a WordPress.com blog, you must purchase a domain mapping upgrade and follow the steps outlined in this guide:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/Pay close attention to the part about email if you have any email addresses setup for the laulaw.ca domain already.
