help with Categories please

  Im trying to help a friend out, my WP experience is limited.

  He has categories that are 3 deep, yet they dont display right, I want the sub categories to be off set or flyout? and some of them overlap?

  My second problem is that the main categories show all the posts from the child categories??? I have it set to show only 1 post, but it shows the latest post

  TRAINING has a sub category called CONFINED SPACE COURSES and it has a sub category called CUSTOM RESCUE

  right now they all list below each other and when I post an article in CUSTOM RESCUE, it shows in TRAINING and CONFINED SPACE COURSES

  any Help please
