Help with Changing Blog Address

    I know how to change the blog address, but I have a few questions about the change before going through with it.

    Am I required to click on the ‘discard current address’ when I want to change my blog address? Or can I not click it and still have the option to go back to the address?

    Will all of my posts, pages, comments, and followers stay with the blog if I change the address?

    Any help and comments are appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi, it’s an option so you can choose what you want. I definitely recommend keeping the old site address. Discarding it permanently deactivates an address.

    If you keep both addresses, everything will be moved to the new address. The old address will be left blank, and you can make it private til you need it again. I hope that helps!

    Ah, so if I change the old address and not click on discard section, I can keep both addresses, correct?

    I just want to make sure before proceeding.

    That is correct. The old address will be active, but blank. You can buy a redirect upgrade to send folks to the new address, or you can make the old site private, or you can dive right in and start making it into a separate site.

    Great. And when I change over to the new one, will my followers comes with me, or will I have to start over?

    Also, will my shortlinks I’ve posts on my social media sites still work, or will they be dead??

    Your followers will move to the new site.

    Links to the old site that you’ve shared around the web will not work unless you do the site redirect thing, so if you have a lot of traffic from the web, please consider either keeping your current address, or getting a redirect upgrade.

    Another option: go ahead and buy a plan and a domain. The old address will automatically redirect to your new domain, so your links will all still work, you’ll have your new address, and you’ll get a ton of features and direct technical support.
