Help with choosing a theme.
-
Hi
I need some help selecting a good theme. My site is going to give away tips, ideas, materials etc for parents to do speech therapy at home.
I’d like a space for a blog, separate pages for “products”, links to helpful sites, someway to answer parent questions so that they would be there for others to see etc.Eventually I’ll hopefully try to monetize with ads or selling services/materials.
My priorities are:
– good SEO
– fairly easy to set up – I’ll be doing it all myself. I’ve done a couple of sites but am very much a novice.
– free initially or cheap – if my site works out, I’d be fine with upgrading from a lite version to a paid one.I’ve tried to narrow it down but there are way to many choices and I’m not smart enough to know what will work best for me.
Thanks for the help
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can have an unlimited number of static Pages on a website, but we only have one Posts/blog page available on WordPressdotcom. There are ways to arrange your site navigation so that your Posts display on automatically generated pages.

https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/Good SEO-All WordPressdotcom themes in our theme showcase, both free and Premium themes, are designed to have good SEO.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/seo/Fairly easy to set up – Some themes are noted especially for beginners. Here’s a selection: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/beginner You can also use the filters in the theme showcase to show you themes with different features.
Free initially or cheap- again, we have dozens of free themes and many more Premium themes as a one-time purchase for the life of your site on WordPressdotcom.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/premium-themes/The theme you are currently using Independent Publisher 2 https://wordpress.com/theme/independent-publisher-2 is also a good choice for getting started. The important thing is to start with set up. If along the way you decide that you want to change your theme, you can do so following this guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes
If you are new to this whole site set up and blogging thing, you may want to look at these additional resources:

Hello again, you’re welcome.
As I mentioned earlier, all WordPressdotcom themes are designed for good SEO, but good SEO is more than choosing a theme. Take some time to go through the information I linked to earlier at https://en.support.wordpress.com/seo/ and that will give you a better idea.
Some suggested themes to get you started:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/beginner
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/minimal
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/cleanThe theme you are using Independent Publisher 2 comes in under all three of those filters. Start with that theme and get your content set up.
If you want to make your site unavailable to the public until you are ready to launch, you might consider changing your site’s Privacy settings to Private. Here’s how you can do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
If you need more help at any point along the way, let us know and we’ll be happy to assist.
