help with closing account

    hi there

    I am actually a bit confused – I seem to have two accounts but only using one and appreciate if you can clarify that I am not wrong about that.

    This one which I havent used – and another which is under ahummingbirdblogs and opened under my other gmail account ( (email visible only to moderators and staff) ) – and hosted via Dreamhost.

    I would like to close this account as its inactive, but want to be sure it wont have any impact on the one that I use and just logged into today.

    Hi there,

    These two accounts have nothing to do with one another, and closing your WordPress.com account won’t in any way affect the other one.

    In a bit more detail: ahummingbirdtoldme is your username account here on WordPress.com. You created this account with us in July 2018, and you own one site, https://ahummingbirdtoldme.wordpress.com/, which was never used since you created it three years ago.

    ahummingbirdblogs is your admin user account on a stand-alone WordPress site, built using the open source WordPress.org software and hosted at Dreamhost. That account is unique and specific to only that site. You can’t use that admin account’s credentials to log in here at WordPress.com, and you can’t use your WordPress.com account credentials to log into your site at Dreamhost.

    So if you don’t plan to use this WordPress.com account, you can safely delete it without it having any impact on your self-hosted site. Just keep in mind that deleting a WordPress.com account is permanent, so neither the address, ahummingbirdtoldme.wordpress.com, nor the username, ahummingbirdtoldme will be available here on WordPress.com again, should you ever decide to create a new site/account on our end.

    You can close your account from the account settings page at https://wordpress.com/me/account
