Help with CSS for “Neat” theme…
-
Anyone know if it is possible to change the background color of this theme from the navy blue to something else? Or is it an image? If so can the image be changed? Thanks for you help everyone!

you would change the background-color in this class
body { font-size: 62.5%; /* Resets 1em to 10px */ font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif; background-color: #454C67; color: #61636A; text-align: left; margin: 0; padding: 0; } -

Actually, you would have to remove the background image and then change the background color as aw1923 says.
-
no you don’t when you apply the neat theme, the CSS of the body looks like this in the CSS editor,
body { background:#8B8B8B; color:#303030; font:76% Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align:center; margin:0; padding:18px 10px 10px !important; } -
There is also this separate section of the body
body { background:transparent url(images/bg.jpg) repeat-x fixed center top; border:medium none; }Without removing the background image, the color change does nothing. At least not when I tested it.

Ok, my first answer with the body class I used the FF3 web developer tool and I was able to change the color without removing that body image.
My second answer with the body I went to my other blog applied the neat theme and viewed the CSS in the wordpress CSS editor. That did not include the body image class so there was no body image to remove.
But, I digress as both of our methods would do the exact same thing

This is what I see when I view her CSS:
/* Theme Name: Neat! Theme URI: http://www.aamukaste.org/wpthemes/ Description: Just another stylish two-column dark blue theme with customizable header. Version: 0.01-wpcom Author: Topi Peltonen Author URI: http://www.aamukaste.org/ Tags: custom header, two columns, blue, fixed width */ /* ************** STRUCTURE ************** */ body { background: url(images/bg.jpg) repeat-x top center fixed; border: none; } #header { background: url(images/header.jpg) no-repeat bottom center; border: none; } #sidebar { background: url(images/sidebar.gif) repeat-y top left; border: none; } body { font-size: 62.5%; /* Resets 1em to 10px */ font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif; background-color: #454C67; color: #61636A; text-align: left; margin: 0; padding: 0; }The body I’m talking about is right under the
/* ************** STRUCTURE ************** */ -
LOL, I know, we were talking about the same thing and my previous comment sticks. Yes I was able to change the color without removing the image part.
-
I just tried changing the color only in preview on my test blog and it didn’t work. I can however change the URL and stuff to a color and it changes the color, but if I change the color in the section you mention, the background image still persists.
-
Actually, never mind. I hadn’t looked close enough at what you did. You changed it from background-color to just background. You are right, that works. Sorry, I should have looked closer.
-
Hey, thank you both for your help… it is much appreciated. Now I’m going to try to process this information… thank you both so much.
-
You’re welcome from me although I ended up complicating the answer by failing to look closely enough at what aw1923 had suggested.
[tip of the hat and a bow to aw1923}
