Help with Cubic Theme

Currently if you look at my front page, all the images take up the entire square that is their space. However if I use the press this option in order to add any image to my media folder I had noticed that there was space above and below the image (making it look like a letterbox type image from a TV picture).
Using the press this option is there anyway I can get that image to fill out the entire square.
As an example I used the media library image for the post called “wordplace” published on 22nd September and you can see the black lines at the top and bottom of the image, that is what i want to eliminate.
I am using the full size image from the media library too.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
The main page is https://habitatforheavyhearts.wordpress.com/ this is where you can see the letterbox effect.
The URL of the actually post is https://habitatforheavyhearts.wordpress.com/2015/09/22/workplace/
I would imagine it is down to the original dimensions of the image, but want to know if there was either a way to alter the max size of the squares on the home page, or stretch the images to fill the square.
Thanks
Moi

Images that are much wider than they are tall may be letterboxed on the Cubic blog page.
The theme recommends featured images that are at 2000px wide by 1500px high.
If you decide to give Cubic another try and would like me to have a look, just let me know.
p.s. in future, if you need staff help in the forums feel free to add the modlook tag to the Tags area of the page. More tips on getting help in the forums.

Thanks for your help. Ill probably stick with the theme I have now. I prefer the image sizes.

Hello.
I have just started my blog using Cubic, but there has been a problem.
The only centered photo does not have the black lines at the top and bottom of the photo like the other two photos next to it.
I would like to make them the same, which means I would like to have the black lines on all the photos.
Would you kindly tell me how to do it if you know the way.
Thank you.This is the site.

You may want to make your own post on this as this call was closed.
However I would say that you would probably need to change the dimensions of the middle picture to be the same as those to the left and right in order to get the black bars.

steevjp is correct. You’re getting the letterboxing effect because those images are much wider than they are high. If you need further help, please start a new thread. Thanks.
